This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

1 John 4:9-10

God loves us. He loves us. Wait, does that mean he loves me? The God of all creation loves me?!?

With all our faults and all our hidden history, we are loved. Once we truly grasp that simple truth, we are forever changed.

The passage goes on…

Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

1 John 4:11

God’s love transforms us to love others. That’s the normal Christian life. If we aren’t transformed by His love, then we need to go back to the basics and begin to truly understand his love for us.

Living in God’s love

To live in God’s love, we engage with him in a life of intimacy. We use the phrase Stopping For The One to mean at least 3 things:

  • stopping for the One — responding to God in worship and adoration
  • stopping for the one — taking time to allow God to fill us and empower us by the Holy Spirit
  • stopping for the one(s) — acting on God’s love to then love others

I have explored this in more detail in a separate post.

This website is a response to God’s love, an exploration of what it means to wait on God, to be filled by him and overflow in love from that place of abundance. We aim to involve many different voices to discover many different aspects of intimacy with God and how we experience that.

Join us as we explore what it means to stop for the one.
